St. Kieran
GRIEF MINISTRY
The parishioners active in this ministry make phone calls, home visits and send Care Notes to parishioners who have experienced THE loss of a loved one. Volunteers are provided with training.
HEALTH MINISTRY
The Health Ministry Team at St. Kieran provides various services to the community throughout the year.
A Flu Shot Clinic, monthly Blood Pressure Clinic, Monthly "Health Talks", and notification of various health issues are part of the ministry.
FUNERAL LUNCHEON TEAMS
Our Funeral Luncheon Teams provide a service to the families of deceased parishioners by providing a luncheon which is served immediately after the Funeral Mass. The Teams are made up of a set-up crew, serving crew and clean-up crew. For those unable to be at the luncheon to help, each team has food donators and "bakers" who provide yummy homemade desserts for the family and their guests.
MINISTRY to the SICK & HOMEBOUND
These trained individuals bring the Eucharist to our home bound parishioners once a week or as requested.
SONSHINE SISTERS
This group sends out cards to our home bound for birthdays and holidays, and to parishioners receiving the Sacraments.
TRANSPORTATION/MINOR HOME REPAIRS
Our Knights of Columbus provides transportation to church, medical appointments or other necessary matters as well as performing minor home repairs or chores for the home bound and seniors.
FRIENDLY VISITS
St. Kieran partners with IVC (Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers) to provide assistance to our older and disabled neighbors who need a little extra help. Volunteers are trained and assigned through their office.
MEALS THAT HEAL
Parishioners provide a home-cooked meal and conversation to parishioners in need.
Greater Community
ST. AL'S SANDWICH MINISTRY
Makes 288 sandwiches weekly which are distributed to the homeless and poor in Detroit through Neighbor Services organization, Manna Community Meals and Sisters of Christian Love.
SOUP KITCHEN
Prepare and serve a meal once a month at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen in Mount Clemens.
MCREST
(Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team) Provide lodging, food and transportation for the homeless, at St. Kieran, one week a year.
AGAPE CENTER
North Macomb Vicariate Assistance Center, located in Romeo, Michigan. Provides food, financial assistance and referrals to individuals in need.
GIVING TREE
At Christmas time, provides gifts and food cards to less fortunate families in our parish as well as several parishes in Detroit and the North Macomb Vicariate.
DISABILITY CONCERNS/RESPECT LIFE
Informs the parish of events that support Right-to-Life from womb to tomb as well as promoting disability awareness.
LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY
Those active with our Legislative Advocacy Committee encourage parish involvement in local, state and national policy issues following the guidelines of the United States Conference of Bishops and the Michigan Catholic Confrence
