Mission
Jesus lived among us for one purpose and for one purpose only: “I must proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom of God… because that is what I was sent to do.”(Lk.4:43) Jesus gave this same purpose to His Church when He commissioned his disciples: “Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News to all creation.”(Mk.16:15) The mission of Jesus sums up the mission of the Church. The Church, in fact, exists in order to proclaim the Good News.
The Evangelization Team at St Kieran exists to help the Parish understand and carry out that mission individually and collectively within our own families and in our local community.
What can I do?
As Christians we believe in Jesus Christ and what He taught us. One of the directions He gives us is to share the Good News of His teaching with those around us – our families, friends, co-workers and often people we only meet in passing. It was through the sharing of knowledge and experiences of faith, called evangelization and empowered by the Holy Spirit, that the early church grew with amazing speed.
The church continues to grow and the Evangelization team seeks participation by Spirit filled members of all ages, backgrounds and talents in order to effectively share the Good News with those who have yet to hear or respond to it.
